What is a EICR?

An EICR is an Electrical Installation Condition Report. It is a formal document that is produced following an assessment of the electrical installation within a property. Woody Electrical are members of the NICEIC. Our Electricians are highly trained with good working knowledge and experience of electrical installations.

Why do I need a EICR?

There are many different reasons to require a EICR. If you are considering the purchase of a property which has old wiring you might want some expert advice as to whether the building needs a complete rewire or only a minor updating. If you are purchasing a more modern property then you might require a full inspection with testing to confirm that everything is ok. If you are a landlord then you may require testing of your property and an EICR to meet legislative requirements.

How often do I need a EICR?

The frequency of having an electrical inspection and test carried out depends on the type and use of property, the condition of your system and the outcome of the last inspection. In most cases between 3 and 10 Years.

Other reasons to have an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) include:

Additions or alterations to the installation

Change in the electrical loading of the installation

Possible damage from example flooding

 Renting a property

To assess compliance with BS7671 (wiring regulations)

To prevent any costly claims against you if an incident occurs

What is inspected during a EICR?

During inspection our Electricians will visually inspect the condition of switch accessories, socket outlets and lights in your property. They will need access to your consumer unit (Fuse box).

The adequacy of the earthing and bonding.

Devices for protection against fire and electric shock.

Any damage or wear and tear that might affect the safety of the properties inhabitants.

Identification of any damaged electrical fittings and accessories.

Identification of any exposed live wires that could cause a fire or injury.


Costs of EICR?

Prices start from £119 Inc VAT. What differ us from other contractors who may charge less. Woody Electrical pride our selfs on ensuring your home is safe. We will not rush our inspection. We will also rectify any simple potential dangerous faults on site rather than fail the report and charge you twice for our service.


Conclusion of a EICR.

If report is satisfactory Woody Electrical will email you a NICEIC Electrical installation condition Report within 24hours of inspection.

If report is unsatisfactory and our electrician are unable to rectify the urgent works on site. We will email you an estimate for cost of

 remedial work along site the failed EICR. You will have the option to accept estimate or get the work carried out from a different contractor.
